Fairwater Cons Mack have taken a big step towards retaining their Premier League title after a 5-0 win against Roath Cons meant they extended their lead over their rivals to eight points with only four games remaining. They were made to work hard against an improving Roath side though, who were competitive in most of the frames, but Jason Hewett comfortably won the opener versus Phil Storer, which included a 36 break. Alan Hurley and Khurram Khan both won on the colours against Rob Reid and Clive Marsh respectively to make it 3-0 before Ronnie Allen beat Alan Wright in a close frame and a 35 break from Brian Rees completed the whitewash against Lee Cornock.

Last season’s runners-up Fairwater Cons are in joint-second place following a 3-2 victory at home to in-form Caerphilly Cons, although they were behind early on as Dan Bridle maintained his excellent form as he defeated Steffan Davies. Twm Sion Jones levelled the match with a win against Dai Rideout, before Terry Garland beat Mike Pardoe to make it 2-1. Shaun O’Connell’s victory over Ieuan Simms sealed the win, but Ciaran Paul won the final frame against Steve Flanagan to keep Caerphilly in with a chance at the top of Division One.

The Cons have moved to the top of Division One after an excellent 4-1 win against Canton Libs, to put them two points ahead of title rivals Caerphilly Cons. However, the first frame featured the individual highlight of the week for Canton as James Facey’s 52 break helped him beat Dan Wardle. A break of 40 was enough to see Ryan Bowgen level the match with victory over Luke Haines, before Dave Standage’s close win against Ed Topham saw The Cons take the lead. Martyn Evans then sealed the win after defeating James Wigmore, with Darren Gill beating Tony Chick in the last frame.

Caerphilly have lost ground after they were beaten 4-1 at home to in-form RBL Warriors, who move up to fourth in the Premier League. However, they had to come from behind after the only undefeated player in the league Dan Bridle won the opening frame against Mike Watts, before Dave Richards made it 1-1 after defeating Mike Pardoe. Jason Veal’s win over Ciaran Paul put the his side ahead, before Chris Johnson sealed the win after he beat Dai Rideout, followed by Nural Khan’s win over Ieuan Simms to finish off an excellent night’s work for the Warriors.

At the top of the Premier League, Fairwater Cons Mack extended their lead after they won 4-1 versus Rumney British Legion, whereas title rivals Fairwater Cons and Taff’s Well both managed 3-2 victories. Ronnie Allen’s side were 1-0 down though

Fairwater Cons Mack have extended their lead at the top of the Premier League after a tense 3-2 win away to Canton Libs, but they had to come from behind after Ed Topham defeated Brian Rees. Jason Hewett levelled the match after beating Luke Haines, but James Facey restored Canton’s lead with victory over Alan Hurley. Khurram Khan’s win against Rory Wigmore restored parity at 2-2, but Ronnie Allen won a high-scoring, closely-fought frame against James Wigmore to seal a crucial win for his side in the race for the title.

Fairwater’s derby rivals Fairwater Cons suffered a surprise 3-2 defeat at home to The Cons, with Mike Rathkey winning the opening frame against Steve Flanagan. Rob McKenna produced the individual highlight of the week with a 60 break against Darren Gill to make it 1-1, but Dan Wardle restored The Cons’ lead with a win versus Terry Garland. Steffan Davies levelled the match for his side after beating Dave Earls, but Dave Standage won it for The Cons after defeating Shaun O’Connell.

Caerphilly Cons have moved to the top of Division One with a 4-1 away win at Taff’s Well, with Dan Bridle and Mike Pardoe winning very close frames against Rhys Carpenter and Ian Purnell respectively. Ciaran Paul sealed the win with a comfortable victory over Jimmy Llewellyn, before the frame of the night saw Dai Rideout edge a hard-fought contest against Kevin Brown, before Rob Hayes won a consolation frame versus Ieuan Simms.

Rumney British Legion are the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the Malcolm Keenor Trophy after they beat Caerphilly Cons 3-2 to finish the group stages with a 100% record. Rumney captain Graeme Prance got them off to a good start after he defeated Ieuan Simms, but Ciaran Paul levelled the match after beating Tony Parkin. Andy Magill restored the home side’s lead with his victory over Mike Pardoe, before Dan Bridle once again restored parity after winning against Paul Chichester. However, Alex Ellis clinched the winning frame after beating Dai Berkinshaw to guarantee top spot in Group A for Rumney.

The other semi-final place is wide open though after Canton Libs won 3-2 at The Cons to give themselves a chance going into the final match in a few weeks, but Mackintosh maintain the upper hand despite having a bye week. James Facey won a high-scoring opening frame for Canton against Dan Wardle, and Ed Topham made it 2-0 after comfortably beating Ryan Bowgen. Martyn Evans kept his side in it after winning a close frame against Luke Haines, but Rory Wigmore sealed the victory after he defeated Dave Standage, before Darren Gill won a potentially crucial consolation frame versus James Wigmore.

Group B is much closer as we head into the final round of matches, with four teams still able to qualify for the semi-finals, although Fairwater Cons Mack have the upper hand after their 4-1 home victory against group leaders

Fairwater Cons Mack have extended their lead at the top of the Premier League after they won a pulsating derby 3-2 against title rivals Fairwater Cons. Brian Rees won an intense opening frame against Shaun O’Connell, before a 78 from Alan Hurley made it 2-0 against previously unbeaten Rob McKenna. A 46 break from Jason Hewett was enough to see off Steve Flanagan and a statement win was on the cards for the champions, but an outstanding 91 break from Steffan Davies against Khurram Khan turned the tide, with a century looking likely until he missed the green on the side cushion. The final frame of the night was going to be a crucial four-pointer and a fluked pink by Ronnie Allen looked like it was going to be enough, but he rattled the black and Terry Garland held himself together to pot a pressure pot and take what could be an important consolation frame for his side.

Taff’s Well are level with Fairwater in second place after they won a hard-fought match 3-2 away to Division One leaders Mackintosh Snooker. Ian Purnell won the opener against Eassa Din, before Billy Connors levelled with victory over Rhys Carpenter. Jimmy Llewellyn then restored Taff’s Well’s lead after he defeated Carlos Schiazza, before the frame of the night saw Kevin Brown beat Mike Nessbert on the black after a nerveless clearance to win the match for his side, although Nathan Dunne managed to win
