Bennett hits second ton of the season and #Penarth move top #snooker #cardiff

The top performance in the Tuesday League this week came from Mark Bennett, who deserves a breaks board to himself with another century contribution – his 104 the highest of the season. Mark couldn’t help Savoy to a win, though – Trec went away to Barry, won 3-2, and left with Shaun Wicks creeping quietly up that Rankings List.

Uni narrowly lost to Penarth Road, and there was another win for Alfie Davies, who in a few years time could be almost as hard to beat as any player in the league. Uni dug in and got two frames out of the defeat, thanks to the last two players.

The top sides changed places – Fairwater enjoyed their BYE, while Penarth Legion will feel they dodged a bullet with a great 4-1 win over Rileys away from home, despite lacking the players based in Newport. It put the Legion back into pole position, and challenges Fairwater to make up the gap in weeks to come. Neil Tomkins remains close to Mark Bennett in the rankings, after a good win over Shane Virgin.

County and Mack really, probably, have little to play for – third looks the best County can hope for, while Mack could still sneak a trophy, but from the Cup, not the League. The win went to County including a 67 break for Kevin Brown.
