CARDIFF & DISTRICT SNOOKER ASSOCIATION

Many thanks to those that attended our AGM and Presentation Night on Thursday 14th July at Llandaff Institute, where we had a lively discussion about potential changes to next season and celebrated the success of the past year.

The League Secretary James Llewellyn expressed thanks for the support of all players and captains over the course of the season, and particularly praised everyone for the excellent spirit in which matches were played, and the fair and impartial way the way frames were refereed. Following the annual reports from members of the committee, it was announced that our Treasurer Spencer Symmons was standing down after many years on the committee. Everyone involved in the league expressed their gratitude to Spencer for his service to the league, and we all hope that we will see him back playing soon.

We are pleased to announce that his successor will be Twm Jones of Canton Libs A, who volunteered for the role and we welcome him onto the committee for next season.

The committee thanked Taff’s Well, Canton Libs and Llandaff Institute for hosting the competition finals, which were all excellent matches and a huge success. Thanks were also passed on to Alan Grove for his sponsorship of the league, and for arranging the Presentation Night at Llandaff Institute.

Line-ups

Home teams to write down their order first, and the away team choosing who to play – Rejected

Cup format

Use of aggregate points, with all matches played to the black – Passed

Handicap Pairs

Different format for Handicap Pairs (Scotch doubles) – Rejected

Tournament Dates

Stagger the start times of tournaments to allow more time to play matches – Passed

Venue for finals

All finals to be played at Taff’s Well – Rejected

(Finals will be played at neutral venues)

Player registrations for tournaments

Players registering to play in tournaments to have played a minimum of 3 matches by Christmas – Rejected

Significant Dates

Avoid matches being organised on significant dates – Rejected

Clubs attended – Canton Libs A, Canton Libs Z, Cuesaders, Savoy, Senghenydd, Taff’s Well A, Taff’s Well B
