Team Knockout Cups, 2011/12

Details of the Tuesday Knockout Cup for 2011/12 are as below.

Fairwater Cons secured a Tuesday league and cup double with a comprehensive 3-0 win over the Mackintosh in the Cup final, including a 70 break from Kishan Hirani. Spencer Symmons and Jason Hewitt didn’t even get their cues out of their cases as the random draw had them playing last. Huw Thomas and Terry Garland won the first two frames before Kishan wrapped the win up and Fairwater took home their second trophy in successive weeks in the memory of Mac Keenor.

Matches were best of 5 with no handicaps.
As agreed in the 2011 AGM, team orders were drawn randomly.
Home teams are the teams named first apart from in the final which was held at Penarth Road Snooker Centre.

Rule clarification: A team should arrive with its five players ready to play by 7.30pm. If a team is unable to do so, they may arrive and notify the opposition, who are free to accommodate a player arriving late AT THEIR DISCRETION. But they are equally entitled to do a complete blind and random draw, and if the player in question is not present to permit continuous play when his/her frame is due to begin, then the frame can be claimed.

Canton Libs ‘A’ made up for the disappointment of missing out on the League by beating Rumney BL in a memorable Thursday Cup final. They had to come back from 2-1 down after the Legion took an early lead with wins from Glyn Hayes and Phil Evans. Frank Thomas made it level in the fourth frame and it needed a black ball win from Adam Jones against Andy Magill in the deciding frame to take the trophy to the Libs for the second time in three years.
