Trecenydd and Canton Libs ‘Z’ win the cups

Trecenydd won the Tuesday/Premier Knockout Cup for the fourth time in five seasons with a 3-1 win over Penarth Road in the final. Duane Jones and Byron Sage made guest appearances for Trecenydd and won their frames but it was a close first frame which John Dobson won on the black against Alan Cook that was decisive.

Canton Libs ‘Z’ won the Division One cup in exciting fashion as the aggregate score format went to the final black, after the first four frames were close affairs. Canton were 37 points up against Taffs Well going into the final frame between David Thain of Canton and Will Williams of Taffs Well. Will looked like he was going to nick it for Taffs Well before David knocked in the colours to leave himself straight on the black down the cushion, which he rolled in to win the cup.

In the plate final, Senghenydd overcome a deficit after the first two frames to win the remaining three against Wellington Boot.
