Bridle & Morgan Win Open Pairs!

Cardiff Open Pairs Final

Tom Cross & Kevin Brown 0 v 3 Dan Bridle & Alan Morgan
Breaks – Alan Morgan 56

Dan Bridle of Senghenydd and Savoy’s Alan Morgan are the Cardiff Open Pairs winners after they beat Taff’s Well B’s Tom Cross and Kevin Brown 3-0 in the final this week.

They quickly established a lead in the opening frame through contributions from both players, and then kept things tight to seal it before the colours. The second was the closest frame of the night with Bridle and Morgan gaining an early lead, but Cross and Brown stayed in the frame and had closed the gap by the colours. A couple of crucial pots from the Senghenydd/Savoy pair was the difference as they clinched it to go 2-0 up.

Both sides had early chances in the third frame but couldn’t capitalise until Morgan potted a good opening red to land on the black. Some outstanding positional play followed with very close control of the white around the black spot with Morgan finally missing a tricky red on 56. Cross and Brown carried on and took the game to the blue, but were unable to find the snookers they needed to prevent Bridle and Morgan winning the frame and sealing the match 3-0 and with it the title of 2018-19 Cardiff Open Pairs champions.
