Fairwater Cons remain top of the Premier League after a 4-1 win at Cathays Cons as the Cardiff & District Snooker League restarted after an 18-month hiatus due to the Covid virus.

Wins for captain Steve Flanagan, Ben Griffiths, Steffan Davies and Terry Garland ensured a solid night’s work for the league leaders, but the highlight of the match was a 50 break by Martyn Evans to win a consolation frame for Cathays.

Fairwater’s closest challengers are Savoy who had a 5-0 walkover away to Senghenydd, who are deducted 6 points for not fulfilling the fixture to ensure the Barry side stay in contention. Mackintosh matched Fairwater’s result by overcoming Canton Libs B 4-1 with Alan Hurley registering a 47 break and Jason Hewitt registering his 17th win of the season.

Taff’s Well moved off the bottom of the Premier League with a 4-1 win at home to Cuesaders, with Canton Libs B now occupying the relegation spot following their defeat to Mackintosh. Canton Libs Z look favourites to replace them as they won 4-1 away to Llandaff despite only have four players, although their lead at the top was cut to three points after Trecenydd beat Rumney British Legion 5-0 to move into second place in Division One.
