Fairwater Cons Mack have won the 2023-24 CDSA Premier League after an emphatic 5-0 away victory at Caerphilly Cons saw Ronnie Allen’s side win with a game to spare and defend their title. Brian Rees won the opening frame against Ieuan Simms, before Jason Hewett beat Mike Pardoe and seal the individual rankings and with it the Player of the Year title. A superb 75 break by Alan Hurley made it 3-0 against Dai Berkinshaw, before Khurram Khan defeated Ciaran Paul and Jacob Boyle beat Dave Rideout to complete the whitewash.

Fairwater Cons need two points in their final match to guarantee the runners-up spot for a second successive year after they beat Roath Cons 3-2. Rob McKenna defeated Alan Wright in the opener, before Phil Storer levelled the match with a win over Terry Garland, but an excellent 69 break from Twm Sion Jones against Clive Marsh made it 2-1 to Fairwater. Steffan Davies maintained his second place position in the individual rankings after he defeated Andrew Champion, but Lee Cornock won a consolation against Shaun O’Connell in the final frame.

Mackintosh Snooker are Division One champions after a 4-1 win against The Cons saw them move seven points clear with one match left to play. Wins for Stephen Connors and Eassa Din against Danny Wardle and Ryan Bowgen respectively put them 2-0 ahead, before Dave Earls pulled one back after beating Mike Nessbert. Billy Connors sealed the win after defeating Mike Rathkey and Nathan Dunne won the title for his side after his win over Darren Gill.

Taff’s Well and Canton Libs both won 4-1 in their battle for third place in the Premier League, with Kevin Brown’s side beating Rumney British Legion despite only having four players available. Rhys Carpenter won the first frame against Alex Ellis, before Jimmy Llewellyn doubled their lead after defeating Justin Behnan. Tom Cross made it 3-0 after winning against Tony Parkins, before a 45 break from captain Brown saw him defeat Andy McGill, with Paul Chichester receiving a walkover in the final frame.

Canton Libs’ victory came at RBL Warriors, although they had to come from behind after Nural Khan beat Luke Haines, before Ed Topham levelled the match with a win against Jason Veal. Rory Wigmore restored Canton’s lead after beating Chris Johnson, and James Wigmore sealed the win after defeating Dave Richards, before Tony Chick’s win on the black against Luke Shepherd kept Canton in touch with Taff’s Well going into the final week.
