Following the withdrawal of Fairwater Cons Mack this season, the CDSA committee have made the decision to fill the bye weeks with a new competition rather than have to redraw the league fixtures.
The new event which is called The League Cup will consist of one league of 10 teams, with each side playing two other teams home and away over the course of the season. Once the four matches have been played, the top 4 will compete in a semi-final and final to determine the overall winner.
It’s also a chance to experiment with a couple of changes in format, with each match consisting of 3 singles matches and a pairs match, and each side can use between 3-5 team members with players allowed to play in both a singles and doubles frame.
The matches will be handicapped in line with the current individual handicaps and each singles frame will be worth one point, but the pairs frame will be worth two points.
We’re looking forward to this new format which allows for a full season of fixtures and another opportunity for silverware!
