The semi-finalists for the Malcolm Keenor Trophy have been decided after a close night of matches which resulted in every game finishing 3-2. In Group A, Savoy completed a perfect set of results with their fifth victory to finish first after they beat Canton Libs B who missed out on a semi-final spot to Trecenydd Snooker after they won at Senghenydd.
Group B produced a sensational finish with four sides battling for a place in the last four right up until the final frame of the night. Taff’s Well knew only a victory would be enough at in-form Fairwater Cons and they achieved it on the pink in the decider after a win for captain Tom Cross, with the individual performance of the week coming earlier thanks to a 57 break for Rob Hayes in his win over Steffan Davies.
Llandaff can count themselves unlucky to only qualify for the Plate after they beat Mackintosh to register their fourth win of the group stages, but they fell one point short of the two sides above them.
The semi-final line-up is as follows, with all ties being two legs.
Malcolm Keenor Trophy
Trecenydd Snooker v Mackintosh
Taff’s Well v Savoy
Plate
Senghenydd v Fairwater Cons
