Hirani v Thomas in Cardiff Open final; Morris v Cross in the Handicap

The 2013 Cardiff Open and Cardiff Handicap finalists are now known.

The Cardiff Open will see Kishan Hirani of Fairwater Cons face Sam Thomas of Penarth Road after they won through their semi-finals in the past two weeks. Kishan beat four-times champion Neil Tomkins 3-2 to make his second final, after losing to Spencer Symmons in 2009. Sam will be in his first CDSL final and beat Huw Carpenter in the semi-finals (Carpenter’s 3rd Open semi-final defeat).

The Handicap will have two first time finalists, with Tom Cross of County facing Jay Morris from Penarth Road. Tom reached his second final of the season with a 2-1 win over Kishan in the semi-final, despite a 73 by Kishan. Jay made 61 on his way to beating Kevin Jones, who will have the consolation of facing Cross in the Pairs final. Both players are off a 14 start.

The Open final is arranged for June 13th at 7.30pm, venue to be decided. Handicap final to be arranged. Keep an eye out here for details.
